The regular meeting of the East Carroll Parish School Board was held Wednesday, July 5, 2000 at 7:30 p.m. in the Boardroom of the School Board Office.

 

Member(s) present: Mrs. Georjean Jackson, Mrs. Fannie Hawkins, Reverend Tommy McKeel, Mr. Buford Perry, Mr. Ralph Coleman, Mr. Glenn Dixon, Mr. Gene Edmondson, Mrs. Evangelia Fields

 

Member(s) absent: Reverend Michael Owens

The meeting was called to order by the President, Mrs. Georjean Jackson and all visitors were welcomed

 

Mr. Buford Perry moved, seconded by Mrs. Fannie Hawkins to accept the minutes of the regular meeting of June 6, 2000

 

MOTION PASSED

 

Mrs. Fannie Hawkins moved, seconded by Mr. Glenn Dixon to add the following items to the agenda:

 

1.         Workforce Investment application for grant in the amount $109,000 includes a request for a Pre-GED teacher, tutor, and twenty computers

 

2.         Authorization to let bids on thinning timber on CRP property, and

 

3.         Energy Masters

A Presentation was made by Energy Masters Company on using the performance contract concept to determine if energy could be conserved in the buildings in the School System. Board took the presentation under advisement

 

Mr. Glenn Dixon moved, seconded by Mrs. Fannie Hawkins to accept the resignation of Deborah Oney, teacher at Transylvania Elementary

Mrs. Fannie Hawkins moved, seconded by Mrs. Evanglia Fields to accept the retirement resignations of Mary Weston, teacher at Transylvania Elementary, and Earnest Jean Toston, cafeteria manager at Southside Elementary

The President yield in favor of the Superintendent, Mr. Marrage Facen who recognized the Outstanding Non-Instructional Employees as follows:

Mrs. Fannie Hawkins moved, seconded by Mrs. Evangelia Fields to approve the submission of an application for a Workforce Investment Grant in the amount of $109,000

Mrs. Buford Perry moved, seconded by Mr. Ralph Coleman to rescind the tree thinning authorization granted to Mr. Grant Pace at the June 6, 2000 board meeting, and authorize the Superintendent of Schools to let bids to thin the trees on the board’s CRP property

Mr. Buford Perry moved, seconded by Mr. Glenn Dixon to change Mr. Thomas Miller from head janitor to assistant janitor at the Lake Providence Junior High School and move Mr. Frederick Lee to head janitor
