The regular meeting of the East Carroll Parish School Board was held Tuesday, July 3, 2001 at 7:30 p.m. in the boardroom of the School Board Office.

The meeting was called to order by the President, Mrs. Georjean Jackson and all visitors were welcomed

 

Mr. Gene Edmondson moved, seconded by Mr. Ralph Coleman to accept the minutes of the regular meeting of June 5, 2001

Mr. Glenn Dixon moved, seconded by Mrs. Fannie Hawkins to accept the resignation for retirement of Mrs. Shirley Fortenberry as a teacher’s aide at Southside Elementary School

Mr. Marrage Facen reported to the board that there is a $17, 210, 600 shortfall Statewide in the MFP funding this year due to a miscalculation of taxes for the East Baton Rouge School System.  East Carroll Parish Schools stand to lose $25,055.  So, the State Superintendent’s Association met and decided to sue the State for the balance of funds due their respective parishes.  Presently, the Superintendent are waiting for a report from the State’s Revenue Estimating Committee which hopefully will resolve the funding shortfall
