The regular meeting of the East Carroll Parish School Board was held Tuesday, January 8, 2002 beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Boardroom of the School Board Office.

The meeting was called to order by the President, Mrs. Georjean Jackson, and all visitors were welcomed

 

Mr. Buford Perry moved, seconded by Reverend Tommy McKeel to accept the minutes of the regular meeting of December 4, 2001 and the special meeting of December 6, 2001

Mr. Buford Perry moved, seconded by Mr. Ralph Coleman to have school board officers remain the same as the previous year

Mr. Buford Perry moved, seconded by Mrs. Fannie Hawkins to accept the resignation for disability retirement of Mr. Jesse Proctor (school bus driver) as of December 21, 2001 and regular retirement for Mr. Matt Lee (janitor) as of May 28, 2002

Mr. Ralph Coleman moved, seconded by Mrs. Fannie Hawkins to accept the resignation of Mrs. Janice Coleman, teacher at Southside Elementary

Mr. Gene Edmondson moved, seconded by Mr. Buford Perry to approve the following policies:

 

1.         Bids and Quotations

2.         Testing Program

Mr. Buford Perry moved, seconded by Mr. Ralph Coleman to accept the general liability insurance quote of $39, 579 from Coregis Insurance Company

Mrs. Fannie Hawkins moved, seconded by Mr. Ralph Coleman to add a discussion of the health insurance increase to the agenda

Mrs. Fannie Hawkins moved, seconded by Mr. Gene Edmondson to add two items to the agenda: (1) Administrative Outreach Agreement, and (2) American School Board Association's "Support Yours Schools" initiative

Mr. Ralph Coleman moved, seconded by Mr. Gene Edmondson to accept provisions of an Administrative Outreach Agreement in which the local school board could bill the state for child-service provisions such as hearing, vision, etc., not covered by special education services

Mr. Ralph Coleman moved, seconded by Mrs. Fannie Hawkins to approve the American School Board Association's "Support Your Schools" initiative in which the local school board would agree to display the American School Board Association's symbol on letterhead, doors, etc.  Corporate companies will sponsor the project
