The regular meeting of the East Carroll Parish School Board was held Tuesday, March 5, 2002 beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Boardroom of the School Board Office.

 

Member(s) present: Mrs. Georjean Jackson, Reverend Tommy McKeel, Mr. Ralph Coleman, Ms. Oleaner Green, Mr. Glenn Dixon, Mrs. Fannie Hawkins, Mrs. Evangelia Fields, and Mr. Gene Edmondson

 

Member(s) absent: Mr. Buford Perry

 

The meeting was called to order by the President, Mrs. Georjean Jackson, and all visitors were welcomed

 

Invocation was given by Reverend Tommy McKeel

 

Mr. Gene Edmondson moved, seconded by Mr. Ralph Coleman to accept the minutes of the regular meeting of February 5, 2002

Mr. Gene Edmondson moved, seconded by Ms. Oleaner Green to direct the board to write a resolution naming the East Carroll Parish School Board as the fiscal agent for Rural Development Grants allocated for Monticello High School ($5,000) and Transylvania Elementary ($5,000) during the 2001-2002 school year.  The resolution is as follows:

Mr. Marrage Facen, Superintendent of Schools, announced that a reapportionment meeting with Mr. Robert Waxman of Innovation Communications, Inc. will be held at the East Carroll Parish School Board Office on March 13, 2002

 

Mr. Marrage Facen, Superintendent of Schools, announced that the Lake Providence Junior High School was no longer in Corrective Action, and will receive its cash award

Mr. Gene Edmondson moved, seconded by Mr. Ralph Coleman to accept the East Carroll Parish School Board Audit Report for year ending June 30, 2001.  The audit was prepared by Allen & Green of Monroe, Louisiana

Mr. Glenn Dixon moved, seconded by Mrs. Fannie Hawkins to allow Ms. Arlean Hampton and Mrs. Joyce Allen to use the Lake Providence Senior High School bandroom and lunchroom for a family reunion scheduled for May 24-26, 2002

Mrs. Fannie Hawkins moved, seconded by Reverend Tommy McKeel to allow Mrs. Rosie spencer and family to use the Lake Providence Senior High School cafeteria for a family reunion scheduled for July 13, 2002

Mr. Marrage Facen, Superintendent of Schools, passed out the proposal school clendar for the 2002-2003 school year for consideration at the April 2, 2002 school board meeting

 

Mr. Marrage Facen informed board members that there would not be a sign-up period for the Conservation Reserve Program this year, so the board would need to advertise for leases on the property that was leased for one year.  The lease to be advertised would be for the 2003 crop year.
