The regular meeting of the East Carroll Parish School Board was held Tuesday, April 2, 2002 beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Boardroom of the School Board Office.

 

Member(s) present: Mrs. Georjean Jackson, Mr. Ralph Coleman, Mrs. Oleaner Green, Mr. Glenn Dixon, Mrs. Fannie Hawkins, Mrs. Evangelia Fields, Mr. Gene Edmondson, Mr. Buford Perry

 

Member(s) absent: Reverend Tommy McKeel

 

The meeting was called to order by the president, Mrs. Georjean Jackson, and all visitors were welcomed.

 

Invocation was offered by Mr. Gene Edmondson

 

Mr. Buford Perry moved, seconded by Mr. Gene Edmondson to accept the minutes of the regular meeting of March 5, 2002 and a called March 13, 2002 special meeting

Mrs. Fannie Hawkins moved, seconded by Mrs. Evangelia Fields to allow Mrs. Mary Green to attend the International Reading Association Convention at San Francisco, California on April 29-May 2, 2002

Mr. Marrage Facen, Superintendent of Schools, informed the board that Mr. Robert Waxman would like to meet with them on April 16, 2002 at 5:30 p.m. to discuss the Reapportionment Plan

 

Mr. Marrage Facen, Superintendent of Schools, informed the board that the fire marshal had determined that the auditorium at the Lake Providence Senior High School did not have enough exit capacity.  The fire marshal and Mr. Sam Hamilton, school architect, will collaborate and determine the best course of action to take in order to have the auditorium meet exit capacity.

 

Mrs. Fannie Hawkins, board member, explained that the members of the Louisiana School Board Association wanted to conduct regional visits to school systems in a collaborative effort to share ideas and services that the LSBA had to offer.  A survey, which will be used to collect information, was distributed to board members by Mrs. Fannie Hawkins

 

Mr. Gene Edmondson moved, seconded by Mrs. Fannie Hawkins to take the bids for the stadium lights at the Lake Providence Senior High School under advisement and authorized the superintendent of schools to accept the low bid.  See bid recapitulation attachment
