A special meeting of the East Carroll Parish School Board was held Thursday, September 6, 2007 beginning at 12:00 noon in the Boardroom of the School Board Office.

Mrs. Georjean Jackson moved, seconded by Mrs. Fannie Hawkins to declare an emergency for the Alternative Program which was destroyed by fire on the night of August 27, 2007.

Dr. Voleria Millikin, superintendent of schools, outlined several options that the School Board had relative to replacing the Alternative Program building:

1.         Rebuild the Alternative building where it is.  The School Board would be responsible for extended costs because of all the new building codes, wiring, handicapped accessories, etc. The current site has a good concrete foundation, and the plumbing is good;

2.         Build a new Alternative building at another site; or,

3.         The Board could opt to accept the cash value of the building ($340,000) from the insurance company.

Mrs. Evangelia Fields moved, seconded by Rev. Tommy McKeel to re-advertise for an assistant principal for Lake Providence Sr. High School.

Mrs. Evangelia Fields moved, seconded by Rev. Tommy McKeel to adjourn the meeting.
