Regular Meeting, 6:30 P.M.

Members Present: Mr. Glenn Dixon, Mrs. Fannie Hawkins, Mr. Ralph Cole man, Mrs. Georjean Jackson Mr. Gene Edmondson, Rev. Tommy McKeel, and Mr. Roger Shoemaker

Members Absent: Mrs. Evangelia Fields, Mrs. Harriet Bridges

The regular meeting of the East Carroll School Board was called to order by President, Mr. Glenn Dixon.

Invocation was given by Mr. Glenn Dixon and the pledge of allegiance led by all.

Visitors were welcomed.

Mr. Gene Edmondson moved, seconded by Mr. Ralph Coleman to approve the minutes of May 4, 2010 regular meeting and May 7 & 25, 2010 special meetings.

Abstained: Rev. Tommy McKeel

MOTION PASSED

Mr. Ralph Coleman moved, seconded by Mrs. Georjean Jackson to accept the resignations of Ms. Delia Salmorin-Teacher, Mr. Felton Millikin-Administrate Assistant, and Ms. Leonora Bolos-Teacher and to accept the retirement of M:. Arilla Boughton effective June 30, 2010.

Mrs. Fannie Hawkins moved, seconded by Mr. Roger Shoemaker to grant extended sick leave to Mrs. Sandra Collins and Mrs. Josephine Hagel.

Mr. Gene Edmondson moved, seconded by Mr. Ralph Coleman to hire John IJ ale Miller as Summer Baseball Coordinator.

Rev. Tommy McKeel moved seconded by Mr. Roger Shoemaker to hire Patricia Roberson - Special Education Director

Mr. Gene Edmondson moved, seconded by Mr. Ralph Coleman to call back two certified teachers from the RIF list.—Mr. Cesar Tiu-Sped Teacher and Mrs. Ma Tereasa Tanawan-Sdence Teacher.

Mrs. Fannie Hawkins moved, seconded by Mr. Ralph Coleman to allow the use of Monticello's cafeteria on June 26, 2010 from 12:00 P.M. until 11:00 P.M. f or a 1985 class reunion.

Mrs. Georjean Jackson moved, seconded by Mrs. Fannie Hawkins to approve the use of a school bus by Mrs. Wanda Jackson to travel to Monroe with the girl scouts pending proof of insurance.

Mrs. Georjean Jackson moved, seconded by Mrs. Fannie Hawkins to allow tie use of the Northside baseball field for recreational play.

 

Letter of permission will be given as well as a hold harmless statement from a responsible party.

The Newsstar recognized those districts that were excelling in testing.  East Carroll Parish was recognized for 85% of its 8th graders passing the LEAP test.

Mr. Gene Edmondson moved, seconded by Mr. Roger Shoemaker to approve the bid recap for the 2010-2011 janitorial supplies.

Mr. Gene Edmondson moved, seconded by Mr. Ralph Coleman to adopt the 2009-2010 budget revision.

Opposed: Mrs. Georjean Jackson, Mrs. Fannie Hawkins, and Mr. Ralph Coleman

Mr. Gene Edmondson moved, seconded by Rev. Tommy McKeel that the school board place the Madison-East Carroll school section for lease for a hunting club for 5 years with the stipulation that whoever leases the land has a minimum of a million dollar liability policy and if any trees are destroyed the hunting club would replant them at their expense and if an excessive amount of damage is done the school board would have the privilege to terminate the lease.

Mr. Gene Edmondson moved, seconded by Rev. Tommy McKeel that the school board place the BullRun school section for lease for a hunting club for 5 years with the stipulation that whoever leases the land has a minimum of a million dollar 1 ability policy and if any trees are destroyed the hunting club would replant them at their expense and if an excessive amount of damage is done, the school board would have the privilege to terminate the lease.

Mr. Gene Edmondson moved, seconded by Rev. Tommy McKeel that the school board place the Bearwallow school section for lease for a hunting club for 5 years with the stipulation that whoever leased the land has a minimum of a million dollar liability policy and if any trees are destroyed the hunting club would replant them at their expense and if an excessive amount of damage is done, the school board would have the privilege to terminate the lease.

MOTION FAILED

Mrs. Georjean Jackson moved, seconded by Mr. Ralph Coleman to accept the bid for the Banner Democrat as the official journal for the school board and that the school board funds be split between the two local banks in Lake Providence.

Mr. Gene Edmondson moved, seconded by Rev. Tommy McKeel that the regular June meeting adjourn.
