Members present: Mr. Gene Edmondson, Mrs. Jacqueline Folks, Mr. Roger Shoemaker, Mrs. Shirley Fairchild, Ms. Arlean Hampton, Mr. Marion Carraway, Mrs. Georjean Jackson and Mrs. Harriet Bridges

 

Members absent: Mrs. Carolyn Ward

 

The regular meeting of the East Carroll Parish School Board was called to order by Mrs. Georjean Jackson, president

 

Invocation was given by Mr. Marion Carraway and the Pledge of allegiance was led by all.

 

Mrs. Jackie Folks moved, seconded by Mr. Roger Shoemaker to adopt the minutes of October 7, 2014 regular board meeting.

 

MOTION PASSED

 

The following personnel changes were made during the month:

 

Retirement

 

1.              David Jones                  Maintenance Foreman               Central Office

(effective 11/04/2014)

Employment

 

1.              Cameron Washington    Technology Technician              Southside Elementary

(Retro-active to 09/08/2014)

 

Mr. Gene Edmondson moved, seconded by Ms. Arlean Hampton to approve a salary supplement to all active employees in the amount of $2600.00 to be given out on November 7, 2014.

 

MOTION PASSED

 

Ms. Arlean Hampton moved, seconded by Mrs. Jackie Folks to approve the worker’s compensation insurance quote from Brown and Brown of Louisiana, LLC.

 

MOTION PASSED

 

Mrs. Harriet Bridges moved, seconded by Ms. Arlean Hampton to approve the LARMA auto quote from Brown and Brown of Louisiana, LLC and to cancel Bershire Hathaway Homestate Insurance.

 

MOTION PASSED

 

Mr. Gene Edmondson moved, seconded by Mrs. Jackie Folks to approve the Louisiana Compliance Questionnaire.

 

MOTION PASSED

 

Ms. Arlean Hampton moved, seconded by Mr. Roger Shoemaker to enter into a lease with Ross Bus & Equipment Sales for 5 years on a Special Needs Bus with a/c for $18,500 per year.

 

Voting For the Motion: Arlean Hampton and Roger Shoemaker

Voting Against the Motion: Gene Edmondson, Jacqueline Folks, Shirley Fairchild, Georjean Jackson, Harriet Bridges and Marion Carraway

 

MOTION FAILED

 

Mr. Gene Edmondson moved, seconded by Mrs. Jackie Folks to amend the motion and lease the bus for 3 years instead of 5 years.

 

Voting For the Amendment:  Gene Edmondson, Jacqueline Folks, Shirley Fairchild, Georjean Jackson, Harriet Bridges, Arlean Hampton, Roger Shoemaker and Marion Carraway.

Ms. Arlean Hampton moved, seconded by Mrs. Jackie Folks to adopt the following policies:
